UB hosts 10th Annual Veterans’ Legal Assistance Conference & Training

On Friday, June 1, 2018, UB hosted the 10th Annual Veterans’ Legal Assistance Conference & Training. The amazing lineup of speakers kept the discussion lively for the 125 participants interested in serving the nearly 380,000 Marylanders who have served in the Armed Forces. The program included VA Benefits 101 Training, Veterans Treatment Court Mentor Training, Know-Your-Rights briefings, and panels discussing discharge upgrades, veterans resources, and family law. Mr. JR Tillery, Deputy Director of the Army Review Board Agency, provided the keynote address and discussed the impact of military discharges on veterans and his organization’s role in supporting veterans. Ms. Jill Brown-Williams, a Coast Guard veteran and Board Member of the Homeless Persons Representation Project, shared her personal story during the luncheon about her transition from military to civilian life and and the struggles she endured.
