UB Innocence Project Clinic Director, Michele Nethercott, to speak on WYPR’s On the Record tomorrow morning

Catch Prof. Michele Nethercott tomorrow morning on 88.1 WYPR, following NPR’s Morning Edition. On the Record host, Sheilah Kast, will interview Prof. Nethercott and Demetrius Smith, from 9:30 to 10.a.m to talk about the upcoming free Innocence Conference held at the University of Baltimore School of Law on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 11 a.m. – to 5:45 p.m.  The conference, From Bloodsworth to Today: Wrongful Convictions in Maryland, will explore legislative response to wrongful convictions, together with panels on the defense and prosecution perspectives on litigating innocence cases.

Malcolm Bryant, Demetrius Smith and George Seward, who were convicted of crimes they did not commit, will be speaking at 12:30 to 1 p.m.

The conference will be followed by a fundraiser for the new Maryland Expert Fund. Laura Nirider of Making a Murderer will be a special guest. The fundraiser begins at 6 p.m. on the 12th floor of the Angelos Law Center. Click here to purchase tickets.
